Deadline Extended To August 31 For Writing Entries

OSWEGO, NY – The H. Lee White Marine Museum has announced a deadline extension for its contest “Write Away!”

It is designed to encourage use of both language and history skills among students, grades 4 – 12.

The museum is offering cash prizes of $25, $50 and $100 for the three best entries, selected by our judges, in each of three grade categories to further encourage student participation.

Students are required to visit the museum to tour the exhibits and prepare an entry inspired by some particular topic, exhibit or artifact.

The story, poem, or essay must be original and prepared by the entrant specifically for this contest.

Museum admission is free for entrants and one adult per entrant.

The new deadline for writing entries is 5 p.m. Aug. 31.

The museum is also still offering its second student contest, “Art & History Rule!”

It is a fun and educational art contest for grades 4 – 12 that encompasses the world of both art and history.

Cash prizes will also be offered for the winners of each division of this contest, as selected by our judges. Grades 1 – 3 will be awarded special non-competitive gifts for participating.

A new photography category has been added and will be judged and awarded separately.

The deadline for art entries is 5 p.m. Sept. 30.
