The event is open to the public and will collect canned or non-perishable goods at the door for donation to the local Human Concerns Center and Salvation Army.

“My dad told me that the supplies are very low this year so I thought this would be a great way to help out the community and make it fun for kids and adults,” Chetney noted.

Participating in the event will be Bishop’s Commons resident, retired superintendent of Fulton Schools, Glenn Clark and resident Ellen Ridgway, a retired quality assurance supervisor from Birdseye.

Both residents will be quizzed on math, science, English and social studies with the help of the sixth grade students if they get stumped on a question.

Representing all elementary schools in Oswego, the sixth graders playing the game include Nick Holland, Fitzhugh Park School; Megan Lagoe, Charles E. Riley School; Connor Joyce, Fredrick Leighton School; Laurin Furlong, Trinity Catholic School; Shane Saunders, Kingsford Park; Leah Mullen, Minetto Elementary; and Zach Cary, Kingsford Park.

The event will take place in the Bishop’s Commons Dining Room at 2 p.m. on Oct. 9.

Parents, teachers, principals, families and friends are all welcome to cheer on participants.

Donations will be collected by Chetney’s Girl Scout Troop #391 at the door.
