Eleanor Reilly of Red Creek is starting the New Year off right. She was the lucky winner of the Hannibal Dollars for Scholars $100 gas card raffle. The very happy Ms. Reilly wasted no time in making the trip to Hannibal to collect her prize. She stated that this could not have come at a better time.
Hannibal Dollars for Scholars provides scholarships to graduates of Hannibal High School each year. The number of scholarships awarded varies due to the amount of funds raised through events and donations during the previous year. The Duck Derby is the largest fund raiser, providing four scholarships each year. In 2010, in addition to the Duck Derby and Gas Card Raffle fund raisers, large donations from the Hannibal Village Market’s golf tournament, the Hannibal Country Cruizers and the 2009 Duck Derby winner made it possible for thirteen students to receive scholarships.
