Don’t Forget To Change Your Batteries

To The Editor,

OSWEGO, NY – It is a proven fact that WORKING smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire nearly in half by providing an early warning and critical extra seconds for escape.

The Oswego Fire Department endorses the national campaign of “Change Your Clock Change Your Battery.”

Ninety-six percent of homes in the United States have smoke alarms, but many do not work due to missing or dead batteries.

So please, on Nov. 1, when you change your clocks back to standard time, replace the batteries in both your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.

And why not take it one step further and remind family friends and neighbors to do the same.

Thank you.
