Econo Lodge Riverfront Hotel in Oswego Transitions to Quality Inn & Suites

Oswego, NY –  Newly installed Quality Inn & Suites signs are now in place at the former Econo Lodge Riverfront Hotel at 71 East First Street in Oswego, and the transition to the new franchise went into effect October 1st, according to Shane Broadwell, general manager of the Quality Inn & Suites.

According to Broadwell, the move to a Quality Inn was based on the strength of their franchise, brand equity and the continued renovations and expansion at that location. The ownership structure of the property remains the same.

“We are continuously looking at opportunities to provide excellence to our patrons, and this transition of our hotel from the Econo Lodge franchise to a Quality Inn & Suites embodies that commitment,” said Broadwell.  “Additionally, the new franchise will complement the new Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center and our other expansion plans along the Oswego river corridor.”

According to Broadwell, there have been many upgrades to the property even prior to the conversion.  A new 54-seat continental breakfast room and dining room has been constructed. The 3,500 square -foot Riverside Banquet room has  also been completely refurbished.  Most guest bathrooms now include renovated tile floors and fixtures, and the fifth floor is now complete with new furniture and a refrigerator/microwave combo in each room.  Additionally, the hallways on the fourth and fifth floors were redone.

Projects that are underway and/or planned include: new wallpaper and granite counter tops in all guest bathrooms; new carpet and wallpaper throughout the hotel; and the renovation of the lobby area and bathrooms.

“We will continue to improve this Quality Inn & Suites property until it has the look and feel of a brand new mid-scale franchise property,” said Broadwell. “ We are excited to add another mid-scale property brand to the Oswego Market.  We have enjoyed being an Econo Lodge since 1994, however we have outgrown the economy brand.  Our goal is to continue to deliver on what today’s business and leisure travelers expect at new franchise properties.”
