A collage showcases the award-winning artwork submitted by EJD students in this year’s Scholastic Art Show.
PHOENIX – Seven Emerson J. Dillon Middle School students represented the Phoenix Central School District and earned honors during this year’s Scholastic Art Show.

Alaina Hubbell earned a Silver Key for her submission.
Honorable mention award-winners included eighth graders Bethany Hook, Jalyn Henry, Kylie Russo, Alissa Bova, Johnathan Dion and Mary Crandall.
“Congratulations to the award-winning artists from EJD,” said EJD art teacher Beth Pritchard.
For more than 70 years, school-aged artists across Central New York have participate in the annual event recognizing the artistic accomplishments of students.
The competitive program showcases artwork from grades 7-12 and features nearly 1,300 pieces of art.
According to Pritchard, nearly 70 artists judged the submitted works, which ranged from paintings to photography and 3-D pieces.
She noted that the judges were impressed with the Phoenix students’ work and applauded the winners for their efforts.
The artwork will be on display through March 2 at the Whitney Applied Technology Center at Onondaga Community College.
The exhibit is free and open to the public.
