Submitted article

On Sunday, October 5th, in the 11:00 AM worship hour, the First United Church of Fulton, 33 South Third Street, Fulton, will celebrate its eleventh anniversary as a united and uniting congregation.  First United Church formed, officially, in October of 1997 with the coming together of the former First Presbyterian Church and the former First Baptist Church.  Rev. David Nethercott also marks his eleventh year in ministry as the first called pastor of the united congregation.

Within the worship hour the Chancel Choir, directed by Burton Phillips, and accompanied by June Dillon, will bring the anthem “United in Christ” by Nancy Price and Don Besig.  Pastor Nethercott will bring a message related to the anniversary occasion.  The celebration of Communion, on what is marked as World Communion Sunday, will also be included in the service.  Benevolence will be received for the needs of the larger community.

Following the worship hour a Fellowship Time will take place in the Fellowship Hall.  An eleventh anniversary cake will be shared.  The Women’s Organization will host a card and knife sale, as well.

First United Church is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches, USA and the Presbyterian Church (USA).  An Adult Study Class is offered for adults at 9:30 AM.  The current study is on The Beatitudes.  Sunday School is offered for children and youth during the worship hour.  Each worship service has hearing assistance and large print bulletins.  Nursery care is offered.  Handicap access is available through the Utica Street entrance.  Please call in advance if you need assistance.
