VOLNEY – Volney Elementary Principal Todd Terpening beamed with pride as he announced the names of several students chosen as classroom role models.
The honorees were recognized for exemplifying the character trait of empathy throughout the month of December.
Each student was nominated by his or her teacher because they had shown sympathy for their peers and recognized others’ feelings.
Terpening said the students have proven they are a great addition to their classroom and Volney Elementary.
For their efforts, a Principal’s Award was presented to the following students:
Wyatt Gulliver, Serenity Root, Heath Turner, Savannah Simmons, Audrey Miller, Nicholas Childs, Izabel Flood, Makayla Clark, Braedon Prock, Josephine Smith, Cassidy Maynard, Nathan LaBeef, Saige Conger, Marleah Hudson, Calie Shepard, Santina Cunningham, Tristan Graham, Alexis Sacco, Gerrit Ossevoort and Tyler Osborne.
Also honored during the school assembly was a group of students who have worked hard toward achieving an academic or social goal.
Students presented with an “On a Roll” certificate include:
Abigail Backus, Luka Karabiyik, Cody Smart, Elliemae Austin, Brayden Ives, Collin White, Aiden Bergman, Emily Detor, Kane Morey, Miguel Alvarado, Khloe Bergman, Vardon Taplin, Joseph Smith, Haley Taplin, Hunter Riebel, Emma Kerfien, Evelyn Rupert and Mackenzie Kerfien.
Terpening encouraged all Volney students to set a new goal for after the holiday break and focus on that goal throughout the month of January so they, too, may be called up for an award.
