EMT Class in Central Square Begins Aug. 24; Registration Deadline Aug. 18

The Oswego County Emergency Management Office/Emergency Medical Services will offer an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT) course beginning in August at SOVAC Ambulance Training Center, 8 Gertrude St., Central Square.

An EMT-Basic Original course will begin Monday, Aug. 28, and will conclude with a New York State written exam on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012. Classes will be Monday and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 10 p.m. and some Saturday mornings. Instructors will be Chris Dunham and Norm Wallis.

This class is designed to cover all of the required skills New York State Emergency Medical Services requires for certification of Basic Emergency Medical Technicians.

An EMT-Basic Refresher will be offered for EMTs who require New York State recertification.

The Written Challenge will be Wednesday, Aug. 24, and the Skills Challenge will take place Saturday, Aug. 27. Classes will be concurrent with the EMT-Basic Original Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 10 p.m. and some Saturdays.
