Enjoy Festive Holiday Events Around Oswego County This Weekend

OSWEGO COUNTY – The holiday season kicks off this weekend, bringing fun events for people of all ages across Oswego County. From holiday tree lightings to festive open houses, enjoy family fun Friday through Sunday, Nov. 29 through Dec. 1.

 

Deck the halls at Demon Acres Friday and Saturday nights, beginning Nov. 29 and running through Dec. 21! Experience a fun new tradition with the whole family from 5 to 8 p.m. Take a wagon ride through the woods to see over 200,000 holiday lights! Attendees can also enjoy a 30-foot tree, a sing-along light show, photos with Santa, a concession stand and a souvenir stand. Demon Acres is located at 341 Co. Rte. 36, Hannibal. Join the CNY Event Ranch this weekend for joyful winter carriage rides! Time slots for both Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 are from 11 to 11:30 a.m., 2 to 2:30 p.m., and 4 to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are required and cost $15 per person or $10 per child under the age of 10. Join the City of Oswego for its 37th annual tree lighting and fireworks! Fun holiday activities are planned for Saturday, Nov. 30 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Don Hill Civic Plaza, located at 13 W. Oneida St.

  • Santa Claus will arrive at the plaza by fire truck at 2 p.m. and offers free visits from 2:15 to 5 p.m. Gingerbread themed ice sculptures will be on display, and Santa’s elves will be around for meet-and-greets!
  • Enjoy the Christmas train from 2 to 7 p.m. or catch a horse and carriage ride, available from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Check out live entertainment from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by the lighting of the tree at 6 p.m.
  • A spectacular firework display will begin at 6:05 p.m., launched from the Pedestrian Bridge over the Oswego River.
  • The Oswego County Youth Bureau will be selling hot cocoa throughout the day for a small fee to support the Friends of Camp Hollis.

The Village of Cleveland also hosts a tree lighting on Saturday, Nov. 30! The Cleveland Fire Department will escort Santa around town on its big red firetruck, before arriving at the village gazebo at 7:30 p.m. for the tree lighting. Once the tree is lit, children will have the opportunity to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Cleveland American Legion, located at 114 NYS Route 49, will be open from 5:30 to 8 p.m. with crafts, hot cocoa, holiday music, cider and donuts. The Cleveland House and TJ’s Restaurant will be open with full dinner menus and kid-friendly specials. On Sunday, Dec. 1, travel back in time to a Victorian Christmas at the Richardson-Bates House Museum! Come see the museum’s beautiful holiday decorations and Victorian winter outfits on display in the period rooms. The event is free and open to the public and runs from 1 to 5 p.m. The museum is located at 135 E. Third St., Oswego.
