Enter To Win Oswego County Fishing, Hunting Guide Photo Contest

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego County Promotion and Tourism Office announces a new photo contest for all shutterbugs.

Winning pictures will be featured in the new Oswego County Fishing and Hunting Guide, which is due out later this year.

The contest is open to residents and non-residents, as long as the photos are taken in Oswego County.

Each person can submit up to five color photos; either vertical or horizontal. Only digital photos will be accepted.

Photographers can submit pictures of children, families, serious anglers and sportsmen and women fishing and hunting anywhere in Oswego County.

People are encouraged to send in scenic fishing and hunting photos, trophy pictures and action shots.

Entry deadline is 5 p.m. on May 27 and winners will be notified shortly after that.

“We’re looking for photos that represent the great fishing and hunting Oswego County has to offer,” said Janet Clerkin, tourism and public information coordinator. “Whether your picture shows kids fishing, our beautiful wildlife, or a big buck or steelhead, we want to see photos of real people enjoying a real experience in Oswego County.”

Tourism staff members will judge the contest based on the following categories: lake fishing, river fishing, ice fishing, youth fishing, deer hunting, turkey hunting, waterfowl hunting, youth hunting, wildlife and Best in Show.

There will be a separate award for fishing while wearing a life-jacket.

Brookfield Power has donated 4 inflatable life-jackets to the winner of this special category.

Clerkin added, “We contacted local guides and charter captains for donations and received a very generous response. The prizes include lake charter fishing trips, drift boat and river fishing trips, and a turkey hunt.”

In addition to Brookfield Power, the following sponsors have agreed to provide prizes for the photo contest: Angling Adventures Guide Service, Cannonball Runner Charters, Douglaston Salmon Run, Otis Technology, Outdoor Adventure Guide Service, Papa Smurf Fishing Charters, Paul’s Guide Service, Prime Time Sportfishing Charters, Reel Silver Charters, SalmonRiverNYDriftBoatGuide.com, and Strike King Charters.

All photos submitted will be featured on the Oswego County Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/visitoswegocounty

The Oswego County Fishing and Hunting Guide will be distributed at trade and travel shows, sports shows, travel information centers, festivals, events, businesses and to individuals over the next two years.
