Eric Behling Tells Rotarians About Apple Farming

OSWEGO, NY – On Thursday, Eric Behling told the Oswego Sunrise Rotary about his apple farm.

Eric is a fifth generation farmer.

His farm, located in Mexico, produces apples, strawberries, raspberries and various other crops.

His farm is the second largest business in Mexico.

He is one of the largest growers of Honey Crisp apples in New York State.

These apples weigh one pound and are very popular.

The soil and climate combine to produce wonderful crops.

Eric’s father turned a disastrous hail storm into a business opportunity.

When the storm threatened his apple crop, he opened his fields to the community to pick apples.

His U-pick program has become a popular and profitable program.

Eric is also a leader in the Farm Bureau.

His territory covers much of New York State.
