Students in Kerrie Phillips’ fifth grade class at Fairgrieve Elementary School recently presented a program during Morning Express to celebrate the birthday of the United States Constitution.

The students gave a brief history of the Constitution and facts about the Constitutional Convention.
Constitution Day is celebrated on September 17 to commemorate the date the delegates to the Constitutional Convention last met to sign the document which is recognized as the supreme law in our nation.
The fifth graders study of the Constitution ties with the New York State Social Studies Core Curriculum and how laws are developed in democracies to maintain order, provide security, and protect individual rights.
