Students, faculty and staff at Fairley Elementary School showed their appreciation for armed servicemen and women during a recent assembly.

The patriotic event included a color guard, several local veterans (who were listed and recognized), a tribute to a former teacher and a song performed by the students.
According to school psychologist Geri Seward, one of the most moving parts of the ceremony was when retired teachers Pam Burlingame, Nancy Labbe and MaryLee O’Brien presented the school with several books in memory of a retired teacher and veteran, Carol Grant, who died in September.
