The culmination of several months of hard work and practice comes on Sunday evening on the turf of the Syracuse University Carrier Dome as the Marching Bucs will join the other representatives of the National Class in the final program of the year.

Oswego will compete at 8:43 p.m. and present its colorful and unique program in the New York State Field Band Conference Championship.

The Marching Bucs are coming off a solid program at the Bands of America competition at Towson University in Maryland.

Band Director Stephen Defren said,, “We had the best performance of the season, but we were unable to qualify for the finals portion of the program. However, we received some valuable feedback from very experienced and thoughtful judges and we were able to watch several fine bands perform.”

The trip to Maryland was a learning experience.

Defren said,”Everything about the trip was fantastic and the students really represented Oswego schools and their community well.”

This Sunday evening marching for the final time in competition will be Michelle Champagne, Paul Gamble, Courtney Gazda, Jessica Gilbert, Steven Glenn, Camille Graham, Paige Gray, Justine Harrington, Jacqueline Hondro, Evelyn Horan, Jennifer Hotchkiss, Tommy James, Marikate Lamb, Billy McSweeney, Anthony Miuccio, Katherine Robinson, Roxanne Scoville and Alex Todd.

Once again the National Class competition should be outstanding  as this year Victor and Arlington have had several wins in regular New York State Field Band Conference shows.

Multi-time champion West Genesee will commence the National Class at 7:25  p.m. and will be followed by Victor, Central Square, Arlington, Webster, Liverpool,  Oswego, Cicero-North Syracuse, Copiague and Orchard Park.
