The New York Farm Bureau, the state’s largest general farm advocacy organization, has named Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,Iâ€â€ÂPulaski) to its Circle of Friends. The honor is given to lawmakers who support policies and laws that help further New York agriculture.
“I’m honored to be named to the Circle of Friends. New York’s agriculture industry returned over $3.6 billion to the farm economy in 2005. About 25 percent of the state’s land area, or 7.55 million acres, are used by the 35,600 farms to produce an array of food products. I certainly support agriculture and all it does for our economy and have supported laws that work for the farmers,” said Barclay.
Barclay has been named to the Circle of Friends every year he has been in office, since 2002. Circle of Friends members demonstrate that they understand the importance of agriculture in their legislative district and how the industry impacts the economy and the future of New York State.
