Fire Department Announces Training Programs

OSWEGO, NY – The city of Oswego Fire Department is offering the following upcoming EMS training courses:

A Basic EMT course will begin on Sept. 11.

It will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings with one Saturday per month, testing out in January of 2011.

An Advanced EMT-Critical Care Course will begin on Aug. 31.

This course will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, also with several Saturdays, and test in June of 2011.

Anyone wishing to enroll in the advanced course must be certified as a basic EMT throughout the duration of the program.

Tuition for the Basic EMT course will be $775.

Tuition for the Advanced course is $1,300.

Currently the New York State Department of Health will pay the tuition for any student that is a member of an agency that provides emergency medical care to the public (a fire department or ambulance corps) at the level of the course in which the student is enrolled.

Both courses will be held at the East Side Fire Station, 35 E. Cayuga St.
