Firefighters carry a "victim" to safety during a drill at Breitbeck Park recently.

“This drill was especially important and well-timed as recent extensions to the West Linear Park have brought a recreational use path below the Breitbeck Park area to the harbor,” said First Assistant Fire Chief Jeffrey McCrobie.

While this is a beautiful extension for those who will use it, it will create a
challenge for emergency responders with the rough terrain as well as the
steep angles of the hill directly behind the park, as well as the grade
going to the harbor, he explained.

“The Tech Rescue Team drilling there will give them the familiarity and experience in the event of an emergency, injury, or illness
as the community enjoys this new addition to our lakeshore,” McCrobie said.
