Fifth grader Logan Longley helps TV meteorologist Jim Teske with a weather experiment during a recent presentation in Hannibal.
HANNIBAL – Precipitation, wind, clouds and wild weather were in the forecast at Dennis M. Kenney Middle School during a meteorology lesson from Channel 9 weatherman Jim Teske.

Hannibal fifth graders put their classroom learning to the test as they discussed the weather and peppered the meteorologist with questions about his job.
The students learned about barometric pressure, precipitation, temperature, air masses and other factors that affect weather patterns.
Teske showed the fifth graders satellite images and explained the technology behind Doppler Radar.
He also discussed air pressure and reinforced the lesson through an experiment with the help of fifth grader Logan Longley.

To cap off the presentation, Teske showed a video highlighting historical lake effect snowfall in Oswego County.
Students were in awe of the snow totals and asked Teske what he is predicting for the rest of the week.
“You’ll have to tune in to the news tonight for the full forecast,” Teske said.
