Foster Parenting And Adoption Orientation Meeting Set

MEXICO, NY  – The Oswego County Department of Social Services will sponsor an orientation meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. on May 14, at the DSS Building, 100 Spring St., for people who are considering becoming foster or adoptive parents.

The informational meeting is a pre-requisite to the 10-session certification training program for adoptive or foster parents.

People who are considering becoming foster or adoptive parents need to attend an orientation meeting before enrolling in the certification training program.

Orientation meetings are held every month in Fulton or Mexico.

Foster families are needed for children who range in age from birth to 21.

Children awaiting adoption typically range from eight years of age and older, and have special needs.

Single and two-parent families may apply to become foster or adoptive parents. In a two-parent household, both parents must attend the training program.

To register for the May 14 meeting or for more information, contact Nancy Clark at Liberty Resources, phone 598-4642, or Carol Vincent at the Department of Social Services, phone 963-5534, e-mail [email protected]
