Foster/Adoption Orientation Meeting Oct. 15

MEXICO – The Oswego County Department of Social Services sponsors an orientation meeting every month for people interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents. The next meeting will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Department of Social Services, 100 Spring St., Mexico.

The informational meeting is a pre-requisite to the 10-session certification training program for adoptive or foster parents. People who are considering becoming foster or adoptive parents must attend an orientation meeting before enrolling in the certification training program.

Foster families are needed for children who range in age from birth to 21. Children awaiting adoption typically range from eight years of age and older, and have special needs. Single and two-parent families may apply to become foster or adoptive parents. In a two-parent household, both parents must attend the training program. Dates of the 10-session training will be announced.

To register for the Oct. 15 class, or for more information, contact Abbey Hough at Liberty Resources, phone 598-4642, ext. 108, or Carol Vincent at the Department of Social Services, phone 963-5534, or e-mail [email protected]
