Fred Crisafulli Discusses New Sea Scout Ship

OSWEGO, NY – On Sunday, Feb. 7, Hiawatha Seaway Council celebrated the 100th birthday of the Boy Scouts of America.

The program was held at the Carousel Mall in Syracuse.

Scout Executive Richard J. Avery Jr. and Council President Robert Berger addressed the large gathering of Scouts and leaders.

They told of scouting’s origins in England and how a good deed by an unknown scout impressed William D. Boyce so much that he formed the Boy Scouts of America on Feb. 8, 1910.

Demonstrations of skills and crafts were made by Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Explored at the event.

Fred Crisafulli is the First Mate of Sea Scout Ship 226, which is organizing the new scouting program.

The Sea Scouts is open to young men and women ages 14 – 21.
