Free Flu Shots at AMI

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Health will offer a free flu shot clinic from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at its Advanced Medical Imaging location in Fulton courtesy of one of its physicians.

Those interested in taking advantage of the free flu shot clinic need to call Oswego Health at 349-5513 to make an appointment during weekday business hours.

Dr. Renato Mandanas, vice president for medical affairs, donated the flu shot vaccine.

Dr. Mandanas encourages those who are age 50 and older who have chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, immune deficiencies, heart or lung disease to be inoculated.

Pregnant women should also get the vaccination, he said.

In addition to his Oswego Health responsibilities, Dr. Mandanas is an internist with a private practice in Oswego.

Since early October, he and his staff members have given nearly 700 flu shot vaccinations.

“I still have a supply of vaccinations left and since the best time to give these shots is before influenza becomes prevalent in the community, I decided that I would make them available to community members.”

Those who take advantage of the free flu shot can also take part in a bone density screening and tour the AMI facility.

The Oswego Health care system includes the Oswego Hospital, The Manor at Seneca Hill, a skilled nursing facility; Springside at Seneca Hill, a retirement living community; as well as numerous services across Oswego County.
