Free Youth Sailing Sponsored By NRG At OMF

OSWEGO, NY – An introduction to youth community boating, sponsored by a grant from NRG Energy is taught by experienced US Sailing Association certified instructors and is a community service available to youth throughout Central New York.

The introductory five-hour, two-day course focuses on boating and personal water safety.

Students participate in a previous OMF sailing class.

It serves to help students determine if they are interested in pursuing additional instruction.

Students are introduced to sailing fundamentals, safe boat handling and basic water survival.

The course is open to students ages 9 to 17 years who have not previously participated in this or other Oswego Maritime Foundation courses.

There is a $10 commitment fee, refundable upon completion of the course or applicable toward course fees for additional instruction.

The dates the course is offered are June 28-29 and June 30-July 1.

Both morning and afternoon sessions are available from 9 -11:30 a.m. or 1 – 3:30 p.m.

The Oswego Maritime Foundation began this program in 1985 and it continues today.
