From Classroom to Career: Sandy Creek Students Explore College and Workforce

OSWEGO COUNTY – At Sandy Creek Central School District, learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Recently, senior English students, guided by teachers Sheena Cornell and Christina Hunt, visited Jefferson Community College (JCC) and participated in professional interview sessions at Workforce Connections to gain real-world experience.

“It is absolutely necessary for educators to take their students on real-world expeditions,” said Christina Hunt. “We need to give them every opportunity we can to help them become successful adults in our ever-changing world.”

The visits provided students with hands-on exposure to college programs, campus life and professional interview practices, supporting the district’s mission to equip students with the knowledge and skills to be self-directed, lifelong learners and its vision to prepare students to become contributing members of their local and global communities.
