Fulton 5th and 6th Graders Give Wrestling a Try

A large group of Fulton City School District fifth and sixth grade boys and girls gathered together in the gymnasium at the Fulton Junior High School to give wrestling a try this week. The Fulton School wrestling coaches, several of the high school wrestlers, as well as some of the junior high wrestlers showed the students some basic stretches, how a match was run, how to score a match and talked to the group about the importance of sportsmanship and safety. Students were then broken down into weight classes by gender and allowed to participate in 4 short matches. Each student received a participation certificate for having fun and giving wrestling a shot. Here, Fulton High School Wrestler Nick Woodworth prepares to start a match between Jacob May from Granby Elementary and Cole Cotton from Lanigan Elementary.
