Fulton Family YMCA Hosts Anti-Bullying Production “The Chocolate War”

The Chocolate War tackles the issue of bullying and conflict resolution in this delightful fantasy production for youth Kindergarten through sixth grades, Friday, November 11th, 10:00am until 11:00am at the Fulton YMCA. (Schools will be out in observance of Veterans Day)

Springer and Sprong, two inseparable pals, tumble into a series of haphazard events that lead to a catastrophic quarrel. The puppets become larger and larger as the conflict grows, acting as a visual Metaphor these children can readily understand. Only by working together is their friendship restored.

The Chocolate War Features original music, puppets from 12 inches to 12 feet tall, and a magical dwarf and is put on by the Open Hand Theater out of Syracuse, NY.

Bullying is a widespread and serious problem that can happen anywhere. It is not a phase children have to go through, it is not “just messing around”, and it is not something to grow out of. Bullying can cause serious and long lasting harm.

We invite the general public to participate by calling the Fulton YMCA at 598-9622 to reserve your spot.

This event is paid for by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and is Free to the general public. We are looking for our guests to provide one non-perishable food item (not mandatory) to help us provide support and to give back to our neighbors. We will be donating all items collected to the local food pantry for the Thanksgiving holiday.
