Fulton PD To Distribute Gun Locks At Farmers’ Market

FULTON, NY – On Sept. 11, the Fulton Police Department will be distributing gun locks at the Fulton Farmers’ Market from 9 a.m. to noon.

The program involves a short gun safety presentation given by Fulton Police after which gun lock kits will be provided to the public.

There will be an initial limit of 3 locks per person.

The gun lock distribution is part of Project Childsafe, a nationwide firearms safety education program, whose purpose is to promote safe firearms handling and storage practices among all firearms owners.

Since 2003, Project Childsafe has distributed more than 35 million safety kits to gun owners in all 50 states than 35 million safety kits to gun owners in all 50 states.

“Police officers realize the importance of firearms safety in the home. We are pleased to participate in Project Childsafe,” said Sgt. Ralph McCann, a firearms instructor with the Fulton Police Department.

Firearms instructor and Fulton Police Lt. William Clark also praised the program.

“Each year, children are seriously injured or killed due to the unsafe handling and storage of firearms in the home,” he said. “This program will go a long way in helping us keep kids safe.”
