The Fulton Public Library is introducing a Read 4 Your Health series this month and has extended its Saturday hours of service to now be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., it was announced by Betty Mauté, FPL director.
“We’re excited to add the Read 4 Your Health series to the programs we offer,” Mauté said. “It kicks off at 4 p.m., Jan. 22, with ‘Nutritional Bingo,’ a fun, educational and healthy activity for children and families.

“This program was started with funds through a grant from the Oswego County Youth Bureau and we may be adding a Thursday session as well. Upcoming programs in the series, all at 4:00 p.m., are: ‘Let’s Go Bananas,’ Jan. 29; ‘Attention Picky Eaters: Fun Food Tasting,’ Feb. 5; and ‘Have a Heart,’ Feb. 12.
“We’re also delighted to host an interview from 6:00 to 8:00 pm., Jan. 30 with C.V. Abbott about the autobiography that he is writing with Joe Abbate. A reception will be provided by the Friends of the Fulton Public Library.”
Among FPL’s regular programs are Story Hour, every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. with a craft or activity, Mauté said. “During the winter months we have a knitting group that meets 3:00 to 5:00pm the first and 3rd Saturday. Both novices and experts are welcome. We also have ongoing jigsaw puzzle building that was started by an anonymous patron last Fall. Donations of puzzles continue, so stop in and work on the current puzzle at your leisure.

“We also have eight personal computers available to the public with internet access. All you need is a library card or stop by the front desk to find out about other options. We also offer free Wi-Fi for your laptop, ‘smart’ phone, or tablet device.
February is amnesty month at public libraries in Oswego County and local food pantries will benefit. “Return your overdue library books, movies, CDs, audio books or other overdue materials with a non-perishable food item and the late fee is forgiven,” Mauté explained. “We want overdue library items back so others can enjoy them, and the local food pantries also benefit, everybody wins.”
Meetings of FPL’s board of trustees are at Noon, the third Tues. of each month, and are open to the public. Friends of the FPL meet the third Thurs. of each month at 6:00 p.m. and anyone who is interested is encouraged to attend, Mauté said.
