Fulton Summer Concert Series Under Way Lakeside, Riverside

The City of Fulton Summer Concert Series is under way with a wide variety of entertainers coming to lakeside and riverside venues this year, said Chris Waldron, Fulton’s director of parks and recreation.

“Whether you want to hear the Fulton Community Band at Bullhead Point or enjoy small group performances by artists like Alan Howe at the riverside Canal Landing Gazebo, we’ve got what you’re looking for,” said Fulton Mayor Deana Michaels. “It’s a summer tradition that we’re building on to make this year one of the best ever.”

Summer concerts by the Fulton Community Band (above) are a longstanding tradition at the Bullhead Point pavilion on Lake Neatahwanta. Large crowds turn out for these concerts which feature a range of both classical and popular music. The band, normally conducted by Carol Fox, is shown here under the direction of Richard Swierczek, former music teacher and director of music for Fulton schools, at a 2017 concert.

The program is a joint effort of the City of Fulton Parks and Recreation Department, the Fulton Community Band, and the Fulton Music Association.

The series began June 30 with the first Fulton Community Band concert at Bullhead point. Bullhead Point Thursday concerts start at 7:00p.m., and Canal Landing Gazebo Friday concerts start at 6:30 p.m.

Canal Landing Gazebo: July 8, Alan Howe and Swing Set; July 15, Joe Cortini with Vanessa Vacanti; July 22, Mark Wahl; July 29, Fulton Dixieland Band; Aug. 11-13, Fulton Jazz Fest; Aug. 19, Drew Freck; Aug. 26, Fulton Dixieland Band.

Downtown Fulton’s Canal Landing Gazebo on S. First St, hosts a series of summer concerts with a variety of performers. Above, Canvas Moon performs at a past gazebo concert. Musicians are, from left: JoAnne Sherwood, Mark Wahl, and Denise St. John Knight.

Bullhead Point Pavilion Fulton Community Band Concerts: July 14 and 28; Aug. 11, Fulton Jazz Fest opener; Aug. 18 and 25, Fulton Community Band.

“Although some seating is available, we encourage all who attend to bring their own lawn chairs,” Waldron said. “We’re looking forward to a sunny, musical summer by the lake and the river here in Fulton.”
