FULTON – Fulton Sunrise Rotarians heard recently about one woman’s quest to walk all 360 miles of the Erie Canalway Trail, stretching between Buffalo and Albany. Canalway Challenge Ambassador Lisa Saunders said she took on the quest to raise awareness of Cytomegalovirus (CMV), a common virus that is a leading cause of birth defects in newborn children when the mother has an active CMV infection and passes it to the infant. The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor offers rewards for completing all or part of the trail. Saunders, at left with Rotarian Patrick Waite, can be reached at [email protected] for more information on CMV or the trail challenge.
Sunrise Rotary meets every Friday at 7 a.m. at Mimi’s Drive-In and can be followed at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61581084572622.
