Fulton YMCA Thanks Community For Loving The Y

To the Editor:

For the third year, the Fulton YMCA has had the privilege of offering the best social event of the year in Fulton!  “Love the Y”  brought out a standing room only crowd to enjoy the evening and bid on hand painted and decorated original works of art on custom built love seats, bird houses and mirrors.  The event netted over $15,000 and the highest bid was $950 for “Crazy, Happy Fun for Birds” by Amy Johnston.  An additional loveseat, “Beachy Keen,” also decorated by Amy Johnston, was raffled and won by Christine Allen. Pauline Rasbeck added extra books to the summer seat.

There are many people to thank for the wonderful event.  Harvey Fadden built the 30 loveseats which were sponsored by local businesses and organizations and decorated by very talented people from Oswego County and surrounding areas. Special thanks go to Bob Hunter at C-Vac Filtration for the unlimited use of his building, Fred Bidwell Kustoms, Mark Fruce of Fruce Building Supply, Dave Molinari of NAPA Auto Parts, Jim Smith of Pittsburg Paints and Garry Stanard of Gosch Supply.  Carol Fox provided the delicious refreshments and the Cortinis’s Jazz Trio played for the appreciative audience.  Thanks to the Polish Home for their hospitality.

Steve Chirello of Chirello Marketing and Advertising did an outstanding job of promoting the event and Joe Cortini, our guest auctioneer, made the bidding fast and furious.  Dan Cummings from Channel 9 News provided plenty of color commentary about the artists as Master of Ceremonies.  The Oswego Valley News, Post Standard, and Palladium-Times, gave us terrific coverage. Dot-Publishing/Fulton Daily News was our media sponsor.
