When Quinn Webb, a fifth grader at Fairgrieve Elementary School in Fulton overheard her mother talking about the increasing demand on the food pantry at Catholic Charities of Oswego County and how the pantry is in need of donations she decided it was time for her to do what she could to help the food pantry. The determined 11-year- old began telling family members, friends, everyone she knew, that the food pantry was in need of donations and began asking for donations of returnable cans. Her efforts were a success as she collected 2,010 cans raised more than a $100.
“It was a pleasant surprise to have someone Quinn’s age bring us a donation,” said Judy Egan, coordinator of Catholic Charities’ Emergency Services program. “As fuel and food costs continue to rise we have noticed a substantial increase in the demand for food subsidy in Oswego County. We are very appreciative of her donation and she is to be credited for her efforts to help our food pantry.”
Catholic Charities of Oswego County serves all people in need regardless of their religious affiliation. Primary funding sources for Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s programs are the United Way of Greater Oswego County, the Diocesan Hope Appeal, the County of Oswego and private donations by individuals and local companies and organizations.
