George Joseph Announces Candidacy for New York State Assembly 115th District

Westmoreland, NY – Local businessman and community leader George Joseph announced his candidacy for New York State Assembly in the 115th District.

“As a small businessman I know all too well how high taxes, over regulation and a dysfunctional state legislature is bad for jobs and for the future of our state,” Joseph said. “As a County Legislator, I have fought to keep taxes low, keep spending in line and ease the burden on families and businesses.”

Joseph, a four-term Oneida County Legislator and owner of North Star Orchards in Westmorland, said his experience and background gives him the needed skills and knowledge to help our state during these difficult economic times.

“For the last eight years, I have been privileged to serve as a County Legislator representing the 10th District. This experience has given me a thorough understanding of the issues facing our community,” Joseph said. “It has been an honor for me to serve the people of my district and it would be an honor to continue my service as the Assemblyman from the 115th District,” he continued.

A graduate of SUNY Oswego, Joseph has been a business owner since 1976 and began his family owned business located in Westmoreland in 1983. He was elected to the Oneida County Legislature in 2002 and has served on several committees including Economic Development, Agriculture, Public Works, Airport and Ways and Means. He has also played an active role in Cornell Cooperative Extension.

“My entire life I have worked hard. Worked hard to educate myself, worked hard to provide for my family and worked hard to serve my community. Now I look forward to the opportunity to work hard as your Assemblyman to make our community and our state a better and stronger place for all of us” Joseph said.
