What could be better than an early fall day in the park, running or walking with your best friend, and all for a good cause?  On Sunday, September 28th, 2008,  beginning at 10:30 a.m. you can “Strut Your Mutt,” at  the Oswego County Humane Society’s Fourth Annual 5K Walk/Run and  1M Family Walk at Breitbeck Park on the west side of Oswego.   Dogs and their humans are welcome at both the 5K Walk/Run and the 1 Mile Family Walk  and sign up forms can be found at the OCHS website at www.oswegohumane.org  or by calling the office at 207-1070.  You can also sign up on line at www.strutyourmutt.eventbrite.com.

There will be lots to do in addition to enjoying the company of dozens of happy dogs.   A number of other animal welfare organizations will be present with information about their programs and there will be vendors exhibiting at the Park.  A picnic lunch (hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, chips & beverages) will be provided.

The entry fee for individuals in the run or walk is $15.00 and for families in the 1-Mile Walk is $25.00.  (After September 19th, late registration fees are $20 for individuals and $30 for families.)  The fee includes one race  hat & a bandana for participating dogs, beverages, gift bags for kids, and the picnic lunch.

The event will begin and end at Breitbeck Park, with registration beginning at 9:00 am.  Each participant may bring up to two dogs, which must be leashed and have proof of current rabies vaccination.

Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place men’s, women’s, and youth (under 14) runner and to the first place dog.

Participants are invited to also raise pledges to the Humane Society.  Anyone who collects $60.00 or more in pledges in addition to their entry fee will be entered in a raffle to draw one of three $100 PetSmart gift certificates, and children  10 and under who collect $10.00 or more in pledges will receive a bag of special prizes.

The Oswego Speedway is the official “race hat” sponsor, and to date, the Shanley Law Offices, the Woodshed Tavern are also sponsors.

Additional sponsors of dog watering holes and the race route are welcome.  For more information, call the Humane Society office at 315 207-1070 or sponsorships can be purchased online at www.strutyourmutt.eventbrite.com.
