OSWEGO, NY – The race is on for President of the United States and the mud is getting knee-deep.
Where, you may ask, would this be happening? The answer would be the Oswego Players’ Frances Marion Brown stage in the Oswego Civic Arts Center Building, Fort Ontario.
Director Bobby Fontana and his cast have been working hard to present possibly one of Gore Vidal’s best plays, “The Best Man.”
Dirty politics is the name of the game in this politically charged drama.
The sparring candidates, played by Kyle Walton and Nick Pike, have been running a back-stabbing one-upmanship campaign since rehearsals began in early March.
Pike is really holding his cards “close to his chest,” as he has been reticent to comment, even for publicity.
They have appealed to the Oswego public in their campaign headquarters at the Rivers End Bookstore and The Coffee Nook with supporters, including their lovely on-stage wives, Beverly Murtha and Amy Price.
This should be a great showdown, so don’t miss it.
Other campaign members include Sara Sheffield, Jacob Luria, Norman Berlin III, Kevina Schleicher, Spring Pigeon, Michael Moss, Heather Steel, Shane Craig and Tammy Wilkinson.
It all begins on April 12, 13 and 19, 20 at 8 p.m. and April 21 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $10/adults, $8/seniors and 7/students.
Reservations are recommended, and can be made at the Players’ Box Office (343-5138).
