Granby Elementary School recently announced its top Accelerated Readers for the 2010-11 school year and rewarded Accelerated Reader participants earning a minimum of 25 points with a fun activity night that included games, face painting, crafts and other carnival-like activities.
The Accelerated Reading program, known as AR to students, is a national program designed to inspire children to read. Students at Granby sign AR books out of the school library, read the books, take computerized reading comprehension tests about the books at their own pace and earn points based on the number of questions answered correctly.
Finishing in first place with a total of 415.4 points was Camille Stevens. Second place was Nicholas Brown with 414.8 points and third place was awarded to Phillip Cobb with 402.6 points total.
Granby Elementary School AR is coordinated by school librarian Janet Hutcheson.
