H. Lee White Museum Offers Model Sailboat Building Sessions

Bond Photos, Sailboat Sprint Coordinator, looks over the model sailboat kits available at the H. Lee White Maritime Museum in preparation for the upcoming kids workshops held this week. Kits can be picked up at the Museum during the week from 1-5pm or at the designated workshops.

OSWEGO – The H. Lee White Maritime Museum is partnering with the Children’s Museum of Oswego and the City of Oswego to offer two off-site model sailboat building workshops for children ages 5-15 years of age. The first is May 2nd . This Thursday’s session will be held downtown at the Children’s Museum from 5:30-7 pm. Sunday’s session will be held at the Oswego Visitor’s Center from 12-3 pm. Sailboat kits may also be picked up at the Maritime Museum during the week from 1-5pm.

Children can assemble and decorate their boats and then attend the Lake Ontario Waterfront Festival, Saturday May 18th 10-5pm and race their homemade model sailboat from between 11-4 pm during the Sailboat Sprint! Other children’s activities include Gyotaku, fish art, and T-shirt making. Children must bring their own T-shirt to decorate. The Pirate King will also be on hand on May 18th.
