Under the direction of music teacher Shirley Terrinoni, the band performed three selections of varying degrees of difficulty.

Two adjudicators listened and evaluated each song and provided comments to every group that participated.

For the ensemble from Hannibal High School, their performance was met with rave reviews and received the coveted gold rating.

“The gold is not something handed out easily,” Terrinoni said. “These students worked hard and I’m so proud of them.”

The judges praised the Hannibal musicians for their technique, accuracy, rhythm and intonation while also providing constructive comments.

The comments, Terrinoni said, help the students grow as individual musicians and as a band.
