HANNIBAL – Third graders from Fairley Elementary School recently learned about art during a cultural enrichment field trip to the Everson Museum in Syracuse.

The unique opportunity was funded by a grant through the Shineman Foundation, which enabled the Hannibal students to tour the art museum and explore various exhibits.
A tour guide led the third graders from one exhibit to the next, piquing the students’ interests and generating questions about the different art forms on display.
According to Fairley Elementary School art teacher Jeannette Gillett, who applied for the grant that made the field trip possible, the tours were a great way to introduce students to all kinds of artistic mediums.
“It was a wonderful experience, and we hope to do it again next fall,” Gillett said.
