The four-year varsity standout for the Warriors recently signed her letter of intent to study and play college hoops at the Buffalo-based college. She will trade in the Hannibal purple for the Spartan red when she begins her post-secondary education in August.

“D’Youville is a small school and had that close community feel, like Hannibal,” Alton said. “I liked the coach and the campus, and it has a great nursing program.”

During her time in the Hannibal Central School District, Alton said she was able to develop her skills under the guidance of Coach Patrick Earley.

“Coach Earley helped me become a better overall player and I’m hoping to continue that success at D’Youville next year,” said the first-team, all-league point guard.

In addition to earning recognition for her athletic accomplishments, Alton also received academic honors, including the President’s Award for Educational Achievement and the Leonard Earle Memorial Award.

She will enter college with several credits as part of her studies through the CiTi New Vision Allied Health program, which she said helped reaffirm her decision to pursue a degree in nursing.
