Harborfest To Host Children’s Gala, Parade

OSWEGO, NY – Harborfest will host its annual Children’s Gala on July 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at historic Fort Ontario.

Sponsored by Entergy, the Harborfest Children’s Gala is an entertaining evening that offers children aged Pre-K to 10 a variety of food, fun, activities and live entertainment.

Children will be able to participate in arts and crafts activities where they will be able to create items that will celebrate the cultural theme of Harborfest 2009, ‘Historic Oswego’ and design their T-shirts to wear in the Harborfest Children’s Parade on July 24.

The event will also feature a performance by the Oswego Children’s Youth Orchestra and a special sneak preview of the children’s musical, ‘Tom Sawyer,’ which will be presented at the Novelis Family Park at Fort Ontario during Harborfest.

The Harborfest’s Children’s Gala promises to be a fun-filled event that children won’t want to miss.

Tickets to the event are only $5 each.

T-shirts, which are $5, will be available for purchase at the Children’s Gala.

The annual Harborfest Children’s Parade, co-sponsored by Oswego Health will be held July 24.

Beginning at 11 a.m. in East Park, the parade will travel to the Novelis Family Park at Historic Fort Ontario.

Pre-parade workshops will be held for all participants on July 22 from 3 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 7 p.m. and July 23 from 10 – 11 a.m. and noon – 1 p.m. in Breitbeck Park.

Post-parade workshops for participants will be held July 25 and 26 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Novelis Family Park at Fort Ontario.

Harborfest is slated for July 23 – 26.
