Head Start Preschool Has Few Openings For Fall 2009

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego County Head Start Preschool is accepting registration applications for the few remaining openings available for September 2009.

Head Start is a quality preschool program that enrolls 3- and 4-year-old children at no cost to families.

The program’s primary goal is promoting school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children.

Classes are led by teachers with degrees in Early Childhood Education.

In addition, all classrooms have teaching assistants and classroom aides.

Head Start Preschool recognizes that children learn best through hands-on experiences.

Classrooms are well-equipped with a variety of materials and resources that encourage students to explore, create, play, and learn.

The program includes nutritious meals and snacks, encourages family involvement, offers support services, and has nurses available.

Head Start Preschool has centers throughout Oswego County, enrolling children from all nine school districts.

While waiting lists are maintained for all classes throughout the school year a few openings are still available for fall 2009.

Families are encouraged to apply soon.

Head Start Preschool is available to families with incomes at or below federally set guidelines.

Head Start is the longest running national school-readiness program in the United States.

Since 1999, more than 4,000 children have been students of Head Start Preschool in Oswego County.
