OSWEGO COUNTY – The Friends of Camp Hollis host a 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 3 to raise money for Oswego County children to attend Camp Hollis. The event starts and finishes at Camp Hollis, 40 Health Camp Rd., Oswego.

“Participants will have the option to run or walk the 5K in person or virtually,” said Alexis Richer, Friends of Camp Hollis board member and chairperson of the event. “We wanted an event that supporters can complete at their own pace, wherever and whenever they want.”

According to Richer, people can register in one of two categories: adults or youth aged 13 and younger. Register through the Friends of Camp Hollis’ 5K event page at https://raceroster.com/events/2023/74563/friends-of-camp-hollis-2nd-annual-5k-runwalk.

All registrants will receive a T-shirt and finisher medal. Shirts and bibs will be available for pick-up starting at 8 a.m. on race day. T-shirts and finisher medals will be mailed to all virtual participants.

Following the race, Friends of Camp Hollis offers refreshments and tours of the campground. Summer staff will be available to talk with parents and children and explain the day and overnight camp options.

Friends of Camp Hollis was formed in 1992 to help send children to camp. Families in need of financial support are offered partial or full support for the registration fee. Camp Hollis was founded in 1946, with the goal of serving all Oswego County children interested in summer camp. It is owned by Oswego County and operated by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.
