FULTON – Students from G. Ray Bodley’s drama group Quirk’s Players visited residents of Springside at Seneca Hill and Bishop’s Commons at St. Luke, performing scenes from their upcoming production of Shrek The Musical.

On Friday, March 3, cast members from the upcoming play visited the two senior residences. At each locale, the Fulton high school students carefully rehearsed scenes from the play, including everything from dance and musical numbers to comical character dialogues.

The visits mark the return of an annual tradition that was lost during the years of the pandemic. Both students and staff hope to rekindle that tradition in years to come.

“The pandemic was hard on our program,” said the musical’s director, FCSD teacher Tom Briggs. “But the community came together during that time and really supported us. So we want to make sure that we’re returning the favor and supporting our community.”

After each routine, students had a few moments to interact with their audience. Residents were delighted by the performance and asked the students to return again soon.

Shrek The Musical is based on the 2001 film by Dreamworks Animation and ran as a Broadway musical until 2010. Quirk’s Players will perform the show on Thursday, March 9, Friday, March 10, and Saturday, March 11 at the GRB auditorium and encourage the community to attend. Tickets are available at the door and presale tickets are available online. Visit FultonCSD.org to learn more.
