OSWEGO – The well-manicured summer grounds of Springside at Seneca Hill recently welcomed residents and guests alike to a gracious High Tea event, transporting attendees to a bygone era of sophistication and charm. Guests were greeted by the stately architecture of Springside, both outside and inside.
Inside, tables for four flowed out from the library into the entrance foyer where friends and neighbors sat to enjoy their tea and extensive array of homemade cookies and treats. Quiet conversation and laughter were abundant, and the finery worn by many of the ladies did not go unnoticed.
The main table in the library was heavily laden with two tea pots — one with plain tea and the other with specially flavored tea. For those with a sweet tooth, the table was covered with tiered and china plates and trays offering a variety of cookies and pastries too numerous to list here and all prepared lovingly in Springside’s residents’ kitchens.
The idea for the high tea event came from resident Vita Chalone, with support from Vickie Smith, Springside activities director, and many other friends and family members.
Springside at Seneca Hill is an independent living residential community for seniors 55 or older who want to free themselves of the responsibilities of maintaining a house.
