Historic Mt. Adnah Cemetery To Hold Annual Lot Owners Meeting May 18

Fulton’s historic Mt. Adnah Cemetery, 706 E. Broadway, will be hosting a meeting for lot owners at 5:00 p.m., May 18 at the cemetery office building, it was announced by Robert Burleigh, president, Mt. Adnah Cemetery Association. “All lot owners are encouraged to attend to discuss their lots, as well as get an update on events, activities and planned upgrades to the property,” Burleigh said.

FULTON, NY –  Fulton’s historic Mt. Adnah Cemetery, 706 E. Broadway, will be hosting its annual meeting for lot owners at 5:00 p.m., May 18 at the cemetery office building, it was announced by Robert Burleigh, president, Mt. Adnah Cemetery Association.

         “It’s an opportunity for lot owners chance to discuss the management and operation of Mt. Adnah, and how it pertains to their stake in the cemetery,” Burleigh said. “We’ll be available to answer any and all questions about lot ownership. Anyone who owns a lot here is encouraged to attend.”

         A history of the cemetery written by local author Jim Farfaglia,  was released in 2024 entitled, Mount of Repose: A History of Mt. Adnah Cemetery. The book describes Mt. Adnah as one of local history lovers’ greatest treasures. Founded before its hometown of Fulton became a thriving industrial city, Mt. Adnah was a pioneer in the development of the Rural Cemetery Movement. Over 170 years later, a stroll through the expansive cemetery provides visitors a pathway into Fulton’s proud past, an appreciation for a well-lived life and a serene setting for reflection. This book explores the gift that awaits visitors at Mt. Adnah and can be found on Amazon.com.

         Mt. Adnah Cemetery was founded in June, 1851, is listed in the National Registry of Historic Places, and it is open to people of all faiths and beliefs. The cemetery is comprised of 44 acres and the word Adnah is Syrian, meaning “rest” or “repose.”
