FULTON – Oswego County Opportunities, Inc. (OCO) announced today that the recent Huhtamaki Golf Tourney successfully raised more than $21,000 to benefit the OCO Nutrition Services program. The employee initiative, held at Battle Island State Park on September 20th, is an annual event put on by the local Huhtamaki plant in Fulton. This substantial contribution will directly support the delivery of nutritious meals to seniors and children throughout Oswego County.

The OCO Nutrition Services program is vital in promoting the health and well-being of the county’s population. For older adults, the program ensures access to nutritious meals, which is crucial for them to remain healthy and independent in their own homes. Beyond meals, the program provides a critical opportunity for socialization, helping to combat feelings of loneliness and isolation among seniors. The funds also support after school and summer meal programs, ensuring children have reliable access to food outside of regular school hours.

“The generosity shown by Huhtamaki and all the tournament participants is truly impactful beyond our imagination,” said OCO Executive Director Diane Cooper-Currier.“This incredible donation of $21,245 will directly translate into thousands of nutritious meals for our children and seniors across Oswego County. Huhtamaki’s partnership is vital in ensuring our most vulnerable neighbors can remain healthy, independent, and connected in their own communities.”

Huhtamaki, a major business presence in Fulton, is a global packaging company committed to protecting food, people and the planet and supporting affordability and accessibility to food and everyday necessities for people around the world. The company selected the OCO Nutrition Services program to be the benefactor of the proceeds from this year’s tournament. OCO expresses profound gratitude for Huhtamaki’s ongoing commitment and support, which makes a huge impact in the lives of so many.
