OSWEGO, New York – Andrew’s Wine Cellar will welcome John ‘Cha Cha’ Ciarcia of Grandpa Cha Cha’s Homestyle Wines to their next wine tasting event to be held on Saturday, March 6th from 1-5 p.m.  Ciarcia played “Albie Cianflone” in the hit television series, “The Sopranos”.

Accompanying Ciarcia at the March event will be Peter Zenzen, of Dr ZenZen Wines and Masahiro Fukuda, of Murai Family Sake/Momokawa Sake.

“We’re thrilled to have such an excellent variety of wines for our customers to try at our March event,” said Andrew Bowman, owner of Andrew’s Wine Cellar.  “Italian and German wines as well as Japanese Sakes will be available to sample, and will be truly something for everyone to enjoy.”

Italian immigrant John Ciarcia ran a barber shop in Little Italy in the early 1900’s.  As a hobby he made his own homemade wine and shared it strictly with his family & friends in the neighborhood. His Grandson John ‘Cha Cha’ Ciarcia is now sharing his family wine for everyone to enjoy. Grandpa Cha Cha’s Home Style Wine blends the soft  smoothness of red Zinfandel, with the fruitiness and tannins of a full-bodied Merlot. The wine is made with a combination of Primitivo grapes and Negromaro grapes, both from the Puglia region of Southern Italy. The combined taste of these grapes is the closest thing to the “old country” Elegante grapes, which are extremely hard to find these days and were used when Grandpa Ciarcia first started making his homemade wine. Grandpa Cha Cha’s Homestyle Wine is bottled in Italy and boasts a 14% alcohol content.

Based out of Kaisersesch Germany, ZenZen Wines is owned and operated by Peter and Regina Zenzen. The Zenzen family represents 13 generations of wine growers. Today ZenZen Wines USA division generates sales in 23 states through 35 distributors. The Florida International Wine Challenge of 2007 voted Dr. ZenZen 2001 Riesling Auslese Best White Wine in The Show with 93 points.

It was the 22nd year of the Meiji Period (1889), that Momokawa Brewing launched a full-scale saké brewing operation. Momokawa’s motto has always been to brew top-quality sake. Their premier brands include Nebuta, Sugidama, and Momokawa.

The March 6th event will be held at Andrew’s Wine Cellar at 195 West First Street in the Canal Commons in Oswego, from 1-5 p.m. For more information, call Andrew’s Wine Cellar at (315) 342-5850.
