KPS Educator Brings Global Sustainability Experience Back to OCSD

OSWEGO COUNTY – Kelly Moxley, a sixth-grade science and social studies educator at Kingsford Park Elementary School, recently completed the Earth Cubs and National Grid Fellowship in the United Kingdom. The experience provided Moxley with hands-on learning, new classroom resources and opportunities to collaborate with educators from across the United States and United Kingdom. Moxley toured National Grid facilities in Yorkshire and outside London, including the company’s control room, while learning about safety, sustainability and energy management. She also experienced National Grid’s educational programs from a new point of view.

“Experiencing these lessons from a student’s perspective helped me better understand how engaging, interactive and meaningful these programs can be for young learners,” Moxley said. “The fellowship was more than professional development, it was an experience that challenged me to think differently about how I teach sustainability and energy education,”

Moxley will bring the knowledge, resources and innovative teaching strategies gained through the fellowship back to Kingsford Park Elementary School and the Oswego City School District, helping expand opportunities for students to engage in meaningful learning about sustainability, energy and environmental responsibility.
